1. PSLs to tell the Y1s to get a pen
2. Y1s to be broken up into smaller groups of 5-6. After this, line the groups up 3. Provide each group with a few sheets of paper 4. The first person of each group would be told the same phrase. They then have to draw out the phrase on the sheet of paper 5. The second person would have to guess what the phrase is through the illustration by the first person. The second person would then tell the third person their interpretation of the illustration 6. The cycle repeats until the phrase reaches the last person in the group. The last person will then have to tell a PSL the phrase they received 1. PSLs to get Y1s to lay out enough chairs in a semi-circle
2. PSLs will get Y1s to randomly select a chair and stand on it 3. Y1s will then have to arrange themselves in any order as specified by the PSLs, without falling into the "sea" (the floor) Note: Please take precautions to ensure the safety of the Y1s in this activity!
In this icebreaker, PSLs will have to write a few random facts about themselves on the whiteboard. The Y1s will then have to guess which PSL does each fact describe.
Classic 102'12 used this game for the session on Resilience. The group will be standing on a tarp. The objective is to flip the tarp over without anyone stepping off the tarp. They will not be given any time before the game to strategise. During the game, only one person will be allowed to speak at any one time; anyone who wants to speak must raise their hand first. If more than one person speaks at any one time, or anyone steps off the tarp, the students will have to start all over again. (They will have to play the Rearrangement Game again; they will be given a different requirement to arrange themselves according to from what they were given the first time)[1] Here's what they said after conducting the game: "I really liked the activity because it provided an appropriate level of challenge. (they have to start over) However if classics want to do this, they must take note of the venue --- we did this in the classroom, and it was squeezy! I suggest doing this maybe at the Koi Pond :)" 102'12 Classic used this game for the session on Resilience. The group will have to stand in a single row, arranging themselves according to the requirement given. (i.e. birthday- the oldest person at the front and the youngest at the back)
They will not be allowed to speak during this activity, thus will only be able to communicate through hand signs. If anyone speaks, the requirement will be changed (eg. shoe size, primary school alphabetical order). After they have arranged themselves, PSLs to check if the order is correct. If the order is wrong, the students will have to start all over again) Classic 101'12 used this game as an Ice breaker and an introduction to the topic, Class Spirit.
3. PSLs to go around group by group to time how long each groups takes to accomplish the task. 4. PSLs to ask each group after timing them if that was the best strategy and ask if they want to retry. 5. Then, give them more time to strategise. Classic 101'12 used this childhood energizer during their last session. The year 1s really enjoyed the activity and had fun! 1) PSLs gather the year 1s to explain the instructions to them.
2) One PSL will be selected to be 'Mr Wolf'. She will face the whiteboard while the year 1s will be standing at the back of the classroom. The PSL will say "What is the time Mr Wolf?" and turn back to face the year 1s at the end of the question. The year 1s will have to move towards Mr Wolf when his back is faced towards them but stay motionless when he turns facing them. The aim of the game is to get as close to Mr Wolf as possible and tap him without getting caught. After being tapped, Mr Wolf will start chasing after the year 1s until they run back to the starting line. 3) The year 1s that are caught moving or caught during the chase will have to do a forfeit (to be decided by the class). Change Change Change is a great energiser and is sure to get your class hyped up. It was recommended by Classic 104'12. 1. Arrange chairs to form a circle facing the inside. Everyone sits on one and leave one empty chair.
2. One of the PSLs will be standing in the middle who tries to sit on the chair. In order to prevent that, the people on the chairs have to move together in one direction (anti-clockwise/clockwise) to occupy that one seat. 3. When it’s the person’s turn to sit on the empty chair, she can shout “CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE” and the direction would change. Body Positions is a evergreen ice breaker that can be used for any occasion, or even as a filler. It was also a game that Classic 104'12 used for their Mission Impossible Activity (Self Management)
